Approach
HALL MTN. VIA PODUNK RD.: From Route 27 in Candia. Held on Route 27 West from Candia and roughly three miles outside of the center of town make a right on Merrill Road. Take Merrill Road roughly two miles until it intersect with North Rd. Go right on North Rd. which will turn into New Boston Road. Make a left on Podunk and stay on Podunk Road past Currier Rd. It will turn into a dirt road. Keep on Podunk Rd until you reach the blocked off road. Be sure not to block off the intersection.Route Description
HALL MOUNTAIN VIA HALL MOUNTAIN TRAIL:
Total Roundtrip Distance: 2.0 miles
Vertical Gain: 200 ft.
Hall Mountain is a very simple Class 1 trail and can be easily ascented in two hours or less. The views on this trail lie on the summit and are limited at that, though there is a decent view of the Uncanoonacs from the summit.
From Podunk Rd. head up the road pass the gated entrance about one hundred feet to the Hall Mtn. Trail (poorly marked as Snowmobile Sign 17 to the left).
The Hall Mtn. Trail begins by ascending at a gradual rate. At roughly 0.3 miles it hits fork with one trail on the left descending and the one to the right rising. Fork right and begin ascending the summit. at roughly 0.6 a recently logged area on your right will begin to appear on your right. At about 0.8 mile the trail eases and hits a false summit before descending and turning right. The trail then rises again to this time the true summit of Hall Mtn.
Moderate views to the west can be seen from the summit. The Uncunoonucs can be seen in the west as well as North Pack and Pack Manadanock. Return the way you came.
