Red Squirrel

Red Squirrel

Much smaller than grey squirrels, red squirrels (Tamiasciurus Hudsonicus, not to be confused with the Eurasian red squirrel Sciurus Vulgaris) may be mistaken for chipmunks but lack any stripes and have a larger tail. They are usually shy - this one thought it was hiding. The pink eye color is an artifact of flash photography. July 8, 2006 - Bondcliff Trail.
