Neither snow nor ice - it's marble

The western part of Moarer Weißen (2867m) mirrored in Moarer Egetensee. What you see is neither ice nor snow, it's a marble scree field to be walked across! Sept 23rd 2006

Eyecatcher!

Wow, this is really an amazing eyecatcher. At first sight you are forced to think, it's an unreal snowfield ending in the lake...
Beautiful pic & interesting trip report.

Herbert

Re: Eyecatcher!

Thanks Herbert. I had to take a detour to get the picture and am happy I did it. Even my girlfriend is now, though she didn't like to be kept waiting - just for a silly photo.

Re: Eyecatcher!

Thanks Alex!

The funny thing I didn't really realize until much later is that the reflection is visible in the water though I used a polarisation filter. This should not have happened but maybe the angles were in my favour...

Re: Interesting

If you look at this picture you can perhaps see what it feels like - it's the reverse direction.

Re: Wow

Thanks, Alex! It's also one of my favourites. Having been there in person was even more special. I wonder what it would feel like to climb a marble summit like the one in the background.
