Please say it's a jokePlease tell me this is some school project you once did. If not, I'm not sure if this is funny or sad. Your caption's great, though.

Re: Please say it's a jokeNo joke - Mt. Diablo State Park offers some great and strenuous hiking in close proximity to the SF bay area. However, the true summit has a structure built on top, complete with a parking lot, etc.

Re: Please say it's a jokeI wish it was a joke. I thought the Mount Tamalpais summit was bad. But this was the pits. Thank you for your vote.

Maybe I didn't summit....I saw this picture before my hike to top of Mt. Diablo yesterday. I did not see this official summit anywhere, but I think the reason was that it is located in the visitor's center, which was closed due to power outage. I ended up going into the rotunda, which is just a bit higher.

thingyThe structure houses a giant survey/signaling system. It was really important for surveying California, as Diablo has ridiculous prominence for such a small peak.
The summit peeking out from the floor is rather amusing. The worst is you still feel compelled to stand on it. LOL

Re: thingyCool, let it be known that I did it without the aid of supplemental oxygen, rope or Sherpa.
