Overview

This could be a family outing for most any one. You can hike to the summit on the jeep road or wander off (up) on varying scrambles and climbs to the summit ridge. From the Cattle Guard just off of Butte Road this is a 13 mile round trip.

Getting There

You take hwy 55 to Emmett. Proceed to Hwy 52 (through town) heading north until you reach the Hwy52/Black Canyon which heads east. Continue North on Van Dussen Road until you reach Butte Road. turn Right (West) and go approx 2 miles until you see a cattle guard, Take the jeep road and park your vehicle or proceed on the Jeep Road which will take you to the summit.

You can also arrive at this start of this route coming from Horseshoe Bend going West on 52.

Something for Everybody

At about 4200FT you are posed with many options. At any point from there you can peel of and climb to the summit ridge, this time of year poses no problems however some of the routes up are thick with boulders and medium rock outcroppings and some fair pitches.
