Alabama Hills of California

Located a few miles west of the town of Lone Pine, Alabama Hills is a collection of Granite rocks on the foothills of Mount Whitney. If you have ever watched old Western movies on television you would recognize so many of the scenes were filmed in the Alabama Hills. In fact, most of the formations are located along the "Movie Road", and from time to time don't be surprised to see dozens of trucks and trailers belonging to movie studios even to this day. My wife and I have always enjoyed the intricate formations and endless possibilities for exploration in the Alabama Hills. About eight years ago I noticed an explosion of sport climbs on hundreds of formations; soon after we were climbing endless moderate climbs here.

Re: MOVIES FILMED IN ALABAMA HILLS

Thank you so much Diego. The list is a gem. Had never thought of looking it up myself.
Happy climbing,
Marc

Alabama Alabama HillsHills

Good stuff here... but the Alabama Hills page already exists. Would be nice if the photos and comments here could somehow be folded into or attached to Misha's fine page.

Re: Alabama Alabama HillsHills

Thank you for the comment Brutus. As you may have already noticed this is only an album and not in competition with Mish's page. And, as far as I know, this is the only album on the area. I noticed that Misha's page wasn't edited or updated since 2005.
I'll check it out again and decide if this album can be attached to his page.
Happy holidays, and happy climbing Brutus,
Marc

Re: Alabama Alabama HillsHills

I am new to Summit Post and haven't quite learned my way around. But, I did attach my album to Misha's page as "child" Is that correct?

Regards,
Marc

Parents

Parents refers to a larger category under which an object falls. For example, theAconcagua mountain page has the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits' asparents and is a parent itself to many routes, photos, and Trip Reports.
