Stâna Roşiile

Stâna Roşiile

Shepherd's hut in the northernmost part of Cirque Roşiile - fortunately most of the cirque, like lots of terrain north of the main ridge of the Parâng Mountains has always been too rocky for grazing animals. August, 1979

I remember very well simply identical view that I had in Fagaras range from Budislavu traverse towards the valley... my endurance for living without that Carpathian views is reaching the deadline...

Re: identical

Good! There'll be lots of new Carpathian pix then, which should help me keep on living :)

Re: identical

I just realized this hut - unlike the typical Carpathian shepherd's hut - is built of stone, and may be a good illustration of the Balkan connection.

Can you believe?

Identical views are in Guatemala, Los Cuchumatanes range... over 3000 meters above sea level.

Re: Can you believe?

What's more, the shepherds speak a Romance language... since they come from the Balkans once controlled by the Romans.
