Untouched beauty

Untouched beauty in the canyon of Krupa river, SE Velebit. In the canyons of Krupa and Zrmanja rivers currently there isn't a single house, maybe few old in ruins. The only traces of human presence are those ruins, rocky fences around formerly cultivated meadows by the river and recently marked path by the most attractive part of Krupa. Let's hope it will stay that way. Several small villages and hamlets, today mostly deserted, are on the plateaus well above the river. Between the waterfalls, which act like barriers, Krupa is mostly calm and deep, over 10m/33feet. Because of that even in summer when amount of water flowing is relatively low, level of the river is always the same, just less spills over the waterfalls. Photo: Aleksandar Gospic

Re: Beautiful!

Ann, when you open your eyes it is big blue and green :-) Didn't have diving goggles in Krupa but I dived allot in nearby Zrmanja (Krupa is its tributary) with and without diving goggles. It is amazing! Water is crystal clear and river bed is rocky, no mud. It is like there is no water, like diving in vacuum, you see hundreds meters/yards ahead. And there is one spot on Zrmanja river where it is 40 meters/yards deep. It is scary to look down :-)

Any Trout in the Stream?

Looks like a beautiful fishing area.

Re: Any Trout in the Stream?

I saw some fisherman there from time to time but they are rare. I also saw some smaller fish in the water but nothing big so I don't know what they were catching. I think Krupa is not very good for fish because of high waterfalls which means fish is restricted in movement. What comes to life between two waterfalls cannot move up or down the river.

Where's the flag?

Shouldn't there be a flag somewhere on that golf green? Is this a par 3, 4, or 5? And where's the tee box?

Re: Where's the flag?

Flag is below the viewing point Paul, not visible. Starting point of this hole, which is par 4, is on the meadow. You are supposed to shot over the river, it's a tough hole. Sand bunker is at the bottom of the river :-) Tiger wouldn't have a chance at current form, but Vijay and Mickelson could probably do it, of course, after covering bottom with balls first. Don’t know which driver would be suitable; distance is over 300m/yards, some tough iron.
