Três Picos State Park/RJ - Brazil

The Três Picos state park was created in 2002 and with their 466 km² it is the largest state park of Rio de Janeiro, including lands in five municipal districts, 2/3 of his area are in the municipal district of Cachoeira de Macacu, and the remaining becomes separated among the municipal districts of Nova Friburgo, Teresópolis, Silva Jardim and Guapimirim.

The park possesses one of the more extraordinary mountainous groups existent in the Country; therefore he is considered the paradise for the climbers of great walls, but it also possesses beautiful walks for the excursionists.

The reason of his name is visible of good part of the highland area of the Rio de Janeiro State, and he is due the a group formed by three mountains melted amongst themselves that they rise until an altitude of 2.316 meters. The highest, call of pico maior of Friburgo, is the summit of all of the Sea Range. Beside the três picos there is a gigantic block of stone of wide and round summit, call of capacete (helmet), which possesses routes of escalade of 400 meters that are the most classic and frequented routes of every park.

Pico Maior

It is an immense granite mountain with altitude of 2.316 meters located in vale dos deuses, being the summit of the whole Brazilian Sea Range. It is one of três picos de Salinas, all located in the municipal district of Nova Friburgo, and with superior altitude to 2.000 meters, tends these given the name to the Parque Estadual dos Três Picos.

The only form of access of his summit is for great escalades, the more acquaintance is the grande leste, that was conquered in 1974 and during more than 20 years this escalade of 700 meters, 2nd access route to the summit of the 2.316 meters of the pico maior, it was considered as the longest of Brazil and he became if a myth.
