A look at the summit tower in winter conditions. You can see the chockstone gully on the left with boot tracks going up it. Those were Tod Bloxham's tracks from our party. He climbed it two days before in softer late-afternoon conditions. We had icy morning conditions that frightened us off. Still, Tod had to do some dry tooling with his crampons to squeeze past the chockstones. He says it wasn't easy. Heck, we didn't even want to make the sketchy steep snow traverse just to get to the base of the gully. April 5, 2004.
