This is a popular boulder on the drive in to Baxter Park from Millinocket. You go about 8 miles to Ambajejus Lake and then a further 6 or 8 miles to this boulder. Not far is the Togue Pond gatehouse which is an official entrance to Baxter Park. This boulder has a chequered history. I can recall it when it was sort of pristine. In the 70s with the increase in hiking, somehow it became a grafitti billboard. The state threatened to blow it up, then thought better of it The boulder has survived many years since then with this sort of outdoor mural. The view of Katahdin from here is the best but storm Charley does not permit it today.
