May 23, 2004 - We had just...

May 23, 2004 - We had just reached the col on the Southeast Face route of Joffre. You can see our tracks come up the slope on the left. Jamin & I were exploring the 3rd/4th class Buttress, which is one of two options towards the summit. If you follow the tracks away from us veering left, you can see Tyson & Magnus waving amongst the rocks. The Anniversary Glacier is hidden on the other side below.

That took me about a minute to find them. Cool shot.



By the way, they appear to be waving to me, but if they agree to climb with you, perhaps they're waiving too.

What started out as an innocent typo (corrected now) actually has ironic implications.



wave = gesture vs. waive = surrender.



Tyson tells the story best, but once we reached the col, he wasn't going any higher. Had nothing to do with me, and everything to do with his fear of heights and this particular route on this particular mountain.
