Alpine choughs ("Alpendohlen") flying over the haze covering Salzburg and Upper Bavaria. The two peaks looming out of the haze are Hochstaufen and Zwiesel. Further in the distance, the Chiemgau Alps. Photo taken on April 4th, 2013 from Salzburger Hochthron on the Untersberg.

I've seen a bunch

of those fellas on the Zugspitze, Eric.
However, I thought they were Rooks? I wonder if the Chough is related to the Rook?

Beautiful photo, by the way!

Re: I've seen a bunch

Hi Tim! Thanks for your compliment! These are not rooks though - they look quite different. The alpine chough has a very different beak!
Cheers,
Eric

Re: I've seen a bunch

Thanks, Eric.
Yes, there is a big difference in the looks of those two species. What I saw on the Zugspitze was indeed the Chough.

The one lower left

looks like a stealth bomber.

Thanks Windsor! Yes, they do get that aspect sometimes - this one for instance!

Really nice!!

Did you have to wait long to get the shot? Getting the birds in the frame adds to the photo tremendously.

Re: Really nice!!

It took some time, yes - and a lot of repeated trying...Was a bit of a "hit-and-miss"-affair...
Thanks for your comment and your 10/10 (!) vote!
Cheers,

Re: real

I believe my photo montage is so perfect that even with the most highly sophisticated and modern scanning methods one would not be able to detect any traces! :D
