Dangerously misleading sign at the trailhead to Bielerspitze and Vallüla

Despite the warning that alpine experience is needed for these trails, there is a huge difference between the two summits. The trail to the Bielerkopf, and from there to the Bielerspitze, is a marked, regular hiking trail in the mountains. No hands required. In contrast, the trail to Vallüla, which starts as an unmarked but nevertheless very clear trail, eventually leads to a steep couloir that is far beyond normal hiking. The couloir can have snow well into summer, and if you fall and don't arrest very quickly, you're done for. Furthermore, the rocks lining the walls of the couloir as well as the route above it require a bit of climbing, up to UIAA grade II. Without prior knowledge of the route, a sign like this is likely to lure people up there that have no clue what they are getting themselves into. I met several people at the bottom of the couloir that had had the good sense to turn back before it was too late. They didn't have any special gear - no rope, crampons, or ice axe. One of them actually looked shaken, after she had gone up the steep snow for a bit and got scared. But at least that's better than falling. I was soloing and didn't bring a rope either, but I had read about the route, and I had brought crampons and ice axe. And with that, it turned out to be a fine climb. Not long after I got to the summit, another climber arrived. He seemed quite surprised to find me there. 21 July 2013.
