ATTM, Raman, and an unknown...

ATTM, Raman, and an unknown SPer head up the gully below the summit of Mt. Bross. At this point the weather is perfect, but a storm was brewing and would soon overtake the hapless climbers as they neared the summit. Under the arrow, Brenta and Peter battle the scree as they realized the trail was on the other side of the gully.

WRONG

That would be Brenta and FBomb under the arrow, JJust was ahead of them in that mess and I was on the summit at that point. Of the first four, I was the only one that took the correct route which got me to the summit just in time for the gale force wind party. I sat there for thirty minutes all by my lonesome and partied all by myself. No need to rub it in though! Ha!

In the end ya'll timed that summit ride perfect. Good job.

Re: WRONG

In fact, it was Peter (pksander) and I who "took the wrong turn." Jeremy at that point was behind us and had the good sense not to make the same mistake. However, we were concerned because the rest of the group seemed to be following us into the deep doo-doo. (At that point, we were the highest still visible from below.)

There was a hard slab of windblown snow over a completely unconsolidated foundation. As soon as the snowshoe crampon bit the snow, the slab would give way. There were only a few inches of snow; otherwise it would have been a textbook example of avalanche conditions. We beat a hasty retreat from the snow, but it took another few minutes before we extricated ourselves from the steep, loose scree.

Re: WRONG

Yep, that is not me, I was in the snow gulley crying at that point I think.
