Allalinhorn 4027m from metro alpin

My son Keith at Metro station 3487m, before he, rgg and I traversed Allalinhorn - up via F+ WNW ridge right skyline - and down via the more difficult PD+ Hohlaubgrat, left skyline. 6th September 2014.

When

my wife and I climbed the Allalin in 1964, there was no Metro under the ice of the Fee-glacier, and it was 1200 m/4000 ft. up from the Längfluh hut!

Re: When

Yes, it is really cheating a bit - but to make things a little better we did traverse the mountain, descending a harder and longer route than we went up - and then we climbed the Strahlhorn 'properly', next day!
I guess the Alps has changed a bit since 1964... my first alpine climbs were in 1973 - also a long time ago.
