This side traverse from snowfield to Horsemans Pack was slow and tedious. We should have stayed along the contour of the glacier instead. August 6, 2014.

Fun reminder

Soaked my feet kicking leading steps in soft snow. I think I had to arrest a couple times. If only we just went straight up right away...

Oh well it was fun practice since the run-out wasn't bad. Better than being on a beach for me (yuk).

Yeah, it's amazing how some snow slopes don't look that steep until you get on them. I recall that this one was pretty hard, especially near the top. No wonder you had to arrest. But you did well leading it.
