Volcan de Fuego Eruption

Volcan de Fuego erupted twice yesterday while we were climbing Nevado de Colima. The first eruption was so large and the explosion so loud, John and I ran several miles back down the mountain fearing for our lives. When the ash finally fell upon us it wasn't as bad as we expected. The second eruption of the day, seen here from the summit 4 hours later, was much more gentle. Photographed January 16, 2017. But 3 days after we were there, a mega destructive eruption rained fire on the surrounding area. Watch this short video of the big eruption.
