You make me jealous with these La Palma pages. You've got me eating right out of la palma of your hand.
I didn't realize Tiede was so high (~20,000 ft) above the ocean floor.
Heck, you're so thorough now you're even including climatic data.
Typo --> 2nd paragraph of Weather Conditions section: "ours" should be "hours"

Thanks Paul!
Were you aware of the fact that the name stems from the resemblance of a palm of a hand? If not, good guess!
As for the climatic data - this is an old trick of mine I have posted to each of my Canarian pages. I didn't think about it actually.
You seem to have missed this page. I'm directing you there because of the nifty html I stole from another page. I thought you might be interested for your own labelled summit shots. It is a table of three pics encapsuled into some html that I don't quite understand myself :o(
If you're interested I can send you the code (with explanations as far as I understand)
BTW: the links on the pano still redirect to the same page.
I was aware of the La Palma name origin. Quite obvious really.
I did indeed miss the Taburiente page. I don't go through every new page that pops up on SP, even if it is from the Great Gangolfini.
The html-graphics linking idea is neat. What I like about my numeric annotation methodology is that it allows me to easily fix a mistake in the caption (which I have done from time to time when others point them out to me). If Josh would ever program in jpeg reload capabilities, things would improve markedly. Some day...
Another great Canaries page! Since going to the area is a bit too much for my pocketbook at present, it looks like I'll have to go back over to Hawaii and gather some beta to try to catch up with you. (yeah, sure!) :-)

Thanks Don! Yes the Canarias are not inexpensive. We paid €1800 for flight and appartment (small house). The islands are popular all year round so there is no real off-season (again like Hawaii I suppose). Prices are best in late spring and autumn. In winter all the North-Europeans go there to get some sun, in summer the Spaniards flock to the islands because they are much cooler than the remainder of Spain.
I don't know how to thank you enough for your efforts to educate & entertain us.

Thanks Eric. The fact is that with my office job rarely giving me the opportunity to "see the results of the work of my hands" I'm quite happy to post here. Also, I'm always amazed at what I find out after I returned from my vacation. Perhaps I should prepare better. But then I would have hunted for the crack in the island and probably lost a lot of time (I would have got lost in any case :o))
Very well done. You are clearly "taking it up a level".

Thanks a lot! Actually I started with the "ugliest" of the 49ers (from my photos). I had found out after I returned home that I had been on all three of them. More to come....

Untitled CommentHey Paul, they call me Haubini! As obvious as La Palma (which wasn't obvious for me - but I'm a dim eastern hemispherean).
