Wahweap Hoodoos - GSENM

Wahweap Hoodoos - GSENM

Grand Staircase-Esclante National Monument Summitpost Info The easy 9 mile round-trip hike to the Wahweap Hoodoos begins in Big Water, not too far from Kanab, Utah. The pedestal rocks are just as they appear, very fragile. At one time a freshwater lake covered the region. What is left today is unique, special and primitive. May it stay that way!

Awesome !!!

I know you're busy downloading photos, but where is
this one located? It almost looks
like SALT DEPOSITS oozing out of
the sandstone. Great picture, tanya!

MY WORD! Who the heck put that rock up there?

Re: Awesome !!!

The Wahweap Hoodoos are in the Grand Staircase - the part by Big Water. It's an easy 6 mile hike out to see them. If you go the right time of the year there is water in the stream that you follow. In the summer it would be brutal hot though. I am with you... I think they are amazing structures!

Re: Awesome !!!

Yeah... it's sad when those rocks do fall off and then the stalk erodes faster. The Wahweap Hoodoos are near Big Water in the Grand Staircase. Here is the trip info.

Re: Quite Amazing!

You are welcome. :) When I first saw a photo of one I had to search until I found them! Bo and I took several trips and finally... sucess! We have found many pockets of them now.
