Tree cairns

Hey, I can see one of the tree cairns we left (lower left)! I can't take credit for the idea, but I must admit, I like it. On sandstone, they stand out a heck of a lot better in trees than they do on the ground.

Tree Cairns

At first I didn't like the tree cairn idea, but as I thought about it, it makes great sense! They won't get washed out as easily and you can see them up off the ground. Generally, there were way more cairns near the upper part of the route.

Yeah, all of those tree cairns along the route were ours. I think it's a pretty great idea - rather efficient, and highly visible. We built quite a lot as we neared the summit, not wanting any issues on the way down.
