From sunny to heavy rain and back  Sucess!

The day before I got to the Sesvenna hut, hoping to go up Sesvenna. However, my map had given me the wrong impression that the route would go over the ridge, but the hut warden explained that the ridge would only be gained after passing the glacier. There was no snow on it and it's not a steep glacier, but as I had only brought light hiking boots and no crampons, crossing that glacier was no option.
Watles was the second choice, but not such a bad one. I didn't take the shortest route from the hut, but first descended to Schlinig, looking for a store to buy some food. No such luck.
From there, I went back up to the saddle north of Watles, went up the southwesternmost subsidiary and traversed the ridge to the northeast, before descending to Mals.
On the way down, the sun quickly disappeared. At first, the rain was just a drizzle, and it stopped again. However, a bit later, the heavens opened wide, and the trails and roads became rivers. My rain gear got tested thoroughly that day!
As quickly as it started, it stopped raining again and the sun reappeared. The weather is freaky around here this time of year ...

Second time  Sucess!

Climbed from the bottom station of the cable-car to the hut and Pfaffenseen as 8 years before. Topped out in ice-cold winds, which eliminated my wish to add Rasassspitze to the tour. Hiked out all the way to Sesvenna Hut and beyond to where the Uina Canyon starts. Retraced our steps to the hut and went down to Schlinig Valley. Fortunately for us we were picked up by a shuttle as we started the road hike from Schlinig to the Watles cable-car. Good hike but sub-par because of the heavy weather.

Route Climbed: From Plantapatsch Hut touching Pfaffensee Date Climbed: September 2000  Sucess!

One of the last attempts of a three week vacation we climbed Watles from Plantapatsch hut in the south. We started out from Burgeis climbed (rather than take the cablecar) to the hut - went on towards Pfaffensee and on to Watles. The return via the route from Sesvenna Hut was long but not very inspiring.
