Nice shot Maurice.......love the winter scenery combined with an expansive view. Happy Trails out there.
Thanks very much TyeDyeTwins - I'm glad to see that this pic is being appreciated! It was lovely on that particular spot on the way to the little peak above Berchtesgaden I went up yesterday!
shapes of Watzmann, it is one, of my favorite mountains in Alps.
I love the Watzmann as well, from this side as well as from the east, when standing high above the Königsee (which I already call "my private little fjord", as I live so near ;-)) and looking over to the formidable east wall, the highest one in the Eastern Alps...The Berchtesgadener Land has always been and will surely remain always a very special area to me! It's one of these spots where you can really "recharge the battery", as it's an area with a very positive feel to it!
That's a really great shot.
Thanks! It was, I must admit, one of these lucky coincidental hits, as it was more the Watzmann and Hochkalter I was fixed upon than what was near...it wasn't until afterwards that I saw the lovely "arch" that the forest had made on that picture, taken in that particular spot - I wasn't on top of the Kneifelspitze yet - in that particular moment. But I guess it's oftentimes the "non-constructed" views that turn out to be the most successful in the end...
wonderful combination in composition, trees, mountains, sky, color.
Thanks a lot for your compliment, autumdiver!
I have not been to that region since I was 8 years old. It looks so beautiful in winter.
On days like that it's gorgeous, yes! What I'm really looking forward to already now is May and June in that area...!
Thanks a lot for your comment and your 10/10 vote!
...composition and capture of the moment!
Thanks a lot, Norbert!
Nice photo! Having never been to the Alps, these peaks look way taller than 3,000 meters. Great work.
Thanks very much! It's true, even though the Watzmann is still a 2000er, thanks to the great height difference between base and top on the north, the east and also the west side - the bases on these sides are not higher than 800 meters, while the summit is 2713 meters - it is a peak with dimension!
Thanks Wiktoria! :-)
I especially like the contrast in line forms--jagged peaks in the background compared to the smooth undulations of the treeline. Also the thin web-like layer of clouds wafting about the valley. Pretty nice! 10/10
Thanks very much, Joel! :-)
