The better of the two
Was not too thrilled with the crowd on Mount San Antonio, so headed off to West Baldy for another peak off the list and seemingly better views besides. A couple guys came in to break the solitude while I was there, but markedly less traffic than Baldy itself despite the views really being better... Previous commenters are right, it looks closer than it is.

Shin-Win
I hiked to the top of Mt. Baldy for the 2018 Climb for Heroes. While on the summit, I gazed longingly toward West Baldy. My friend Mr. Shin encouraged me to go for it, stating that it would take only twelve minutes to get there from Baldy. He was right.

Hiked up the bowl to bag the 3 peaks, still good amount of snow left!
First time on Register Ridge Trail to Mt. Harwood, then on to Baldy (4th time), West Baldy (1st time), and down the Ski Hut Trail to Manker Flats.

With Baldy and Harwood
Drove down from the Bay Area for a conference in Palm Springs - after visiting the downtown LA library I drove up to Manker Flat and hiked up to the ski lodge and took the Devil's Backbone trail up to Baldy with a side visit to West Baldy and Harwood on a fine afternoon. Barely any snow to be found anywhere, and none on the trail. Trip report is HERE.

Fun Traverse
This was more of an after thought having reached the summit of Mt. Baldy with too much energy to spare. It looks closer than it is, and I took me 45 minutes they and back. There was some snow and I did post hole quite abit. My son was extremely patient yet cold by the time I got back.
Heather and I took off at 7PM and topped out around 11PM during the Venus transit. What a beautifully windy night to spend up there with a tasty bottle of wine. :)
