Dome Peak & Henry's Fork Peak

Great day hike from a base camp in the Yellowstone Creek drainage. Ascended Anderson Pass, tackled Dome Peak, and cut around the knob between Dome and Henry's Fork before tackling the knife's edge. The exposure was incredible. I had a sunny summit of Henry's Fork Peak - only ten parties signed the log in 2020, 2021, and 2022 combined. Hit Cliff Point before descending directly into Yellowstone Creek. Dome Peak needs a new summit log.

About 23 miles roundtrip, went up the south slope. Boulders were sketchy near the top, then everything was great on the summit. Only person up there for the day

Henry's Fork Trailhead  Sucess!

First peak of a four peak day. 30.1 miles in a single day from the trailhead. Even saw a porcupine and moose. Extremely wet, creeks were raging.

Ski trip  Sucess!

March 8, 2014: 28 mile solo trip on skis. Perfect day, virtually no wind.

March 31, 2007: Started at the Henrys Fork winter parking area heading for Kings Peak. Skied to Gunsight Pass where I ditched my skis. Everyone else kept their skis on and I didn't think I could posthole all the way to Kings Peak by myself, so I opted for this peak instead. If only I had known they would ditch their skis at the base of Kings I would have gone for it. 13:40 RT

Bad weather  Sucess!

Climbed from Henry's Fork Lake. Once we made the summit, it started to hail and rain. This delayed our summit attempt of Henry's Fork Peak until the next day

Via Powell, Henry's, Kings Dome traverse  Sucess!

Least interesting peak of the four. Ok from the West Descending towards the Kings cutoff was a long tedious scree and Boulder field.

From Gunsight Pass  Sucess!

#31 03-28-2009 Solo. Climbing this peak in one long day on this date is either a testament to idiocy or proof that it can be done if you want to. Snowshoed from the winter TH. R/T time was just over 18 hours which included 45 minutes of waiting for my friend, Dave, who opted to summit Kings Peak. I had bagged Kings last winter but had never climbed Dome, so Dome had to fall. With snow and ice blanketing the south side I was able to make the steep ascent with patient switchbacking and judicious use of mini-crampons. #2 09-09-21 W/ Lana from Dollar Lake campsite. Bluebird day, tons of unstable boulders from the base to the summit on the south side of the peak.

Route Climbed: Gunsight Pass Cutoff  Sucess!

Almost had a misfortune with a large boulder sliding on me. Had to overcome the mental games after the slide and made it to the top. Myself, father, and brother made it to the top. Amazing views of Painter, and Henry's Fork Basin. Great weather.

Via the Toilet Bowl Notch  Sucess!

July 24 - 27, 2008 I did a solo trip to the Henry's Fork basin during which I climbed five peaks over 13,000 ft in 2 days. Dome was the third of the five. My route was from Dollar Lake, via the Toilet Bowl.

6/27/09 - A long one day trip that also included summiting Kings Peak.

7/18/08 - After setting up camp in Painters Basin, we finished the day off by summiting Dome. The views of the other peaks in the area are incredible from this summit.
