Good snowshoeSnowshoed up the West Ridge in Spring 2005 after hiking up the Y trail and camping between Y Mountain and Lion's Head. Beautiful blue skies, and a spectacular, but somewhat scary summit cornice: I didn't realize I was standing on a cornice until I walked to the edge of summit and looked down to see empty space beneath my feet. I got back to firm ground in a hurry! Descended via the drainage just south of the peak that runs into slate canyon. Great day. (However, I forgot sunscreen and somehow lost my sunglasses on the way up and I definitely paid the price.)
