Very cool

These photos & captions give such a great flavor of the route. I spent a lot of time in the Winds before moving to Alaska, and this makes me want to go back for a few more routes, including this one!

Loose rock?

I thought Wyoming had solid rock, "the big loose rocks may have effected our rating." Looks like a really nice mountaineer's route, hopefully I can attempted it one day. I have wanted to visit the Wind River Range for a long time.

Thanks for the route details.

Re: Loose rock?

Most of the classic Wind River rock climbs are in the southern part of the range where the rock is very good (ie Cirque of the Towers). The Northern Winds contain all the higher peaks like Turret and are unfortunately somewhat looser. For example, a huge boulder rolled over one of my parterns on Sacagawea and nearly killed her. Fun stuff, but you gotta be on guard. Good luck and have fun!
