Western side of Tijeras Peak

This photo shows the Western side of Tijeras Peak. From the highest point seen in the photo (Point 13,290), the route to Pico Asilado follows the ridge right and down past the large snowfield. Once beyond this, it cuts down and back left to the head of the cirque on loose talus. Once in the floor of the valley, it is a pleasant walk to the clump of trees in the foreground where the actual ascent of Pico Asilado begins.
