Wetterhorn/Uncompahgre
One of the best mountains I've ever done, I loved the spicy gully near the summit and from now, I started to look at the exposure bars on fourteeners dot com page.

The Long Way
Took the long way. Backpacked in from the north (West Fork Cimarron Creek trailhead). I had wanted to see the impressive north face of Wetterhorn and it didn't disappoint. Made the summit the next morning, despite stomach issues. Fun climb. The backpack out felt very long.

Wow, I really enjoyed this peak. Beautiful approach basin, nice physical peak with a fun finish. I went solo but, as this is a 14er in the summer, was not really alone. Took the direct finish to find an under-25 shirtless male review on the summit...lol! Thanks, boys! Back in Lake City in time for lunch.,

SE ridge
Started at 2pm and summitted at 5:30 and had great evening lighting on all the San Juans and fantastic sunset over Uncompahgre!
Quick day via the standard route. Though it would take longer so we started a bit early, ended up watching the sunrise from the ridge. Nice day!

long day from Wetternhorn Basin TH
My buddy Danny and I got to the TH around 8 and headed up to the pass. Descending into the basin, the wildflowers were amazing. Wood posts marked the path across the basin towards Wetterhorn. Reaching the saddle to the SW of the peak, we angled up to the NE, eventually joining up with the main trail. We reached the peak at 12:45 and headed down soon after. We climbed a couple of boulders a mile or 2 from the TH before returning to Montrose in time for dinner. All-in-all my favorite 14er trip so far.

Triple bonus
Gorgious wildflower season. Banged it out before clouds moved in after doing Uncompahgre. Then they left so we went for Matterhorn too! Didn't see the notch on the way up and ended up just climbing up the face. Probably low 5th class. much easier descent to the notch.

Magnificent!
We accidentally took the wrong way and went up Matterhorn Creek but we went around and eventually found our way back to the main trail at about 13,000'. But the nature of the climb and the view from the summit made this my new fav 14er.
I climbed The Wetterhorn with my CMC BMS instructor, Robert. We camped at Matterhorn Creek trailhead, started around 5:45, arrived at the summit around 9:50AM. There's not too much snow to deal with, and the weather was almost perfect. There were lots of marmots about, one chased us up the staircase and all the way to the summit. A couple of those fat bastards chewed up the handles of my trekking poles. We headed back down, packed up our campsite and headed over to Yankee Boy Basin to climb Sneffels on July 3rd.
