Wheeler Peak (left) from Boulder Flat Mining Camp, established in the 1880s. It is possible to reach Mt. Patterson by first climbing Wheeler Peak from near here. November 24, 2005.

Any more information on this route?

What road do you take off of the paved main highway (Sweetwater Road) to get here? What is the road quality? 4WD?

4wd would be useful, mainly because there is a steep stretch where it's nice having all 4 wheels engaged.

It's been 6 years and I don't really remember the road very well. If you like you can send me your e-mail address and I can scan the directions from a book and send it to you.

It's a pretty area, though.
