surprisingly beautiful  Sucess!

Did this as a detour today. Really beautiful badland country. Interrupted an eagle eating his lunch on the summit.

Hiked to the top with my sister on a gorgeous first day of summer. Thankfully, we saw no snakes.

Beatiful  Sucess!

The trail of 0.7 mile to the hill bottom is closed for vehicles. Took us an hour to run from our car to the top and back. Managed to get back right before sunset. Beautiful view. No other human beings/vehicles around.

SHP #13  Sucess!

I was surprised not to see a living soul anywhere near White Butte as it was Memorial Day; however, the North Dakota weather was not kind on this day. I didn't even see any other vehicles from the moment I left the highway.

Nice to have the summit to myself, but I didn't stay long; the wind almost blew this Clydesdale off his feet, and I started getting pelted with sleet as I signed the register.

Best Halloween Ever  Sucess!

Hiked it in the dark on Halloween with our occasionally lost Boxer. There was even a full moon.

too much tall grass

Wish the path was a little more worn out. Hiking in prairie grass always freaks me out not being able to see snakes.

No Snakes  Sucess!

Struggled to find the trailhead. Read some reports of rattle snakes, but didn't see any.

HP #6  Sucess!

Gorgeous weather, well maintained, wildflowers, and pretty views. My 13yo and I enjoyed this little highpoint. The manequin sitting in the cop car in Amidon brought a smile. Signage was deceiving, but directions as posted on Summitpost were perfect.

Gorgeous HP view  Sucess!

Our little rental car couldn't make it past the road, so we walked the entire dirt road to the trail past the fence. The rattlers at the top were replaced by baby bunnies! The view from the top was one of the greatest views I've had of my 25 highpoints to date.

Sixth Of Eleven This Trip  Sucess!

This was a really nice highpoint (we had a nice rain while ascending and a pretty good rainbow on the descent). the clay (bentonite, i think) is really slippery. we did this after a visit to the little missouri badlands and they are not to be missed.

One of my first State High Points  Sucess!

I was very young when I did this hike. Maybe 8? I recall their being many cactus in the field leading to the hill. The view from the top wasn't bad though.

Winter Drive up from CO, Highpoint #4  Sucess!

Had a great trip up from CO, stopped at the geographic center of the 50 states and went back through Montana (Albion Ghost Town was cool). Butte was an easy hike and the car got stuck in snow on the way to the trailhead but we got it out and had a great hike.

North Dakota Highpoint  Sucess!

This was my 1st state highpoint. We couldn’t find the trail, so we found our own way up. No rattlesnakes this time.
