great composition and color...
also, it makes me want to be there!
Thank you! Definitely go there if you haven't been before. It's an amazing place, and there are only a few spots in the world where there are gypsum dunes like these. Just bring your sunglasses. This place can be tough on the eyes.
Thank you. I appreciate your taking the time to comment.
That oval shadow...
What a treasure you have found
At the end of a rainbow!
Thank you! It was an interesting afternoon, thunderclouds all around but enough sunlight to make some really interesting conditions.
Deserves to have been photo of the week.
Thank you. Whether it did or not, I appreciate the feedback!
Thank you, Byron. I've never had a POTD before, so that was pretty cool. I wish it had been for a climbing rather than a hiking shot, but I still appreciate all the favorable response I've gotten on this. The funny thing was that I just recently had this picture reprinted when I was thinking about making a White Sands page. So it almost never made it here!
Desert image is what we needed to see now....great shot you had.....congratulations.
Thank you very much!
Another nice one, Bob--You keep pulling these out of your hat! :-) --mark d.
Thanks, Mark! I never imagined this would take off the way it did, but it was pretty cool that it did. I just reprinted it to use on the White Sands page I was making.
Thank you! I will be in Wyoming-- the Absarokas, Gros Ventres, and Great Divide Basin this July; and Colorado over Labor Day. Next summer, I hope to be around your neighborhood.
Not finalized, but definitely the southern parts north of Dubois, and quite possibly eastern Yellowstone, the South Fork area, and west of Meteetse (from the Kirwin area).
What a breathtaking photo!!
Thank you! I am glad you liked it!
everything about this shot just beautiful!
