Via Mesquite Canyon Trail  Sucess!

Shuttle hike from Mesquite Canyon Trail to the cut-off trail to Barry Goldwater. Did Radio Summit afterwards and took the use trail back down to Goat Camp. Just 12 1/4 miles total.

2nd Ascent  Sucess!

Easy hike, toxic summit.

Can you hear me now...  Sucess!

There were tower workers who were not amused by my, "Cool, I finally have reception." comment when we popped up on the summit. They said we shouldn't be there and I said we didn't hike all the way up here to not tag the summit. We felt like rebels!

Longer than I thought!  Sucess!

I did the hike via Mesquite and as described by surgent but it seemed longer to me than, at least 13 miles. Anyway, nice hike and on the way back I took Willow Canyon trail which was the most enjoyable part of the hike. Views were not so great as it was a bit hazy.

Barry  Sucess!

My first trip to the peak. I've hiked it a number of times since then.

Boring Goldwater Peak  Sucess!

A nice, long hike, but an ugly summit covered with towers and signs warning of radiation danger. I didn't stay long and left without finding a register.

Far.  Sucess!

This was a big hike, 13 miles plus!? and you have to get irradiated by antenna. Glad to knock it off the list, wont return, although there is some nice portions of the trail. jar at top had many many names.

Re: Far.

Oh and the rattler!! guarding the summit. Over 15 years of hiking and never came up on one until this hike.

Mesquite/Willow Loop

Long hike, but a very nice one. I'd recommend it to others.

Gorgeous hike

Used Goat Camp trail, then jumped onto the obvious ridge to the more cluttered radio tower summit- not sure where this jeep trail I'd read about was, it was a bushwack for the last 800 ft. directed by blue spray painted spots on the rocks. Did not venture to the true summit as people were working on the towers. Not a soul on the trail but me. The wildflowers were amazing.

A bit on the warm side...  Sucess!

Decided to try Goat Camp Trail to the usual route. Nice, but not spectacular hike to the jeep trail (which can be done in shorts). Think it's about 5.3 miles to that spot, with most of the gain between mile markers 1 and 3. Spotted (and was spotted by?) a guy doing maintenance on the towers over at Pt. 4018 driving up and down the road there.

Couldn't find a register at the summit, and metro PHX was especially smoggy. 6 hrs roundtrip...

Clear Day  Sucess!

Guy and I hiked this peak from the west side.
Satellite images handy for figuring out the
road net. Managed to ding the Honda's bumper -
these dirt roads a bit too rough for cars.

Very clear air this day - think we saw Kofas ?

Tagged HP of South Mountain (just south Phx) on way home.

Mesquite Trail  Sucess!

The summit is a little bit of a dud but overall this is mostly a very nice hike on good trail with standard Sonoran scenery.

Not bad  Sucess!

Pefect weather and nobody on the trails...surprising for a weekend.

Think So  Sucess!

I think I made it ... An Air Force buddy of mine stationed at Luke AFB hauled my butt to what I thought was the top. It was danged hot that day with, of course, no shade, except some patches near tall rocks.
