Falls galore
Parked at the lower parking area. Went up via White Oak, cut across the saddle trail, and down via Cedar Run. Both trails have manu falls and cascades. Cedar Run has a nice rock slide into a swimming hole.
I've done it many times, usually a loop coming back down Cedar Run. I've also done it in the winter when the falls were at least partly frozen; definitely my favorite time to do it.

Very Dry
I only wish the waterfalls looked like the pictures listed on this page. Unfortunately they were just small trickles and much of the streams were not even above ground.

My favorite place in Shenandoah National Park!
First time I did this canyon was in 1999, and we camped at the upper falls (we didn't realize it was illegal, whoops!). Between then and April 2005 I frequented the area.
The last time I did it, was April 21, 2005 when a Yahoo Group I belong too organized a "sick out" and instead of going to work we went hiking!
Watch out for the snakes! On one hike in the canyon I saw three of them.

Brook Trout
Visited this beautiful area on a hiking/fishing trip to SNP. One of my favorite areas of the park for sure.

Frozen Wonderland
All the falls were frozen and the ice was solid enough for lots of climbers to test their skills. Great way to see the falls.

Whiteoak CanyonHiked a number of times as a kid growing up in NoVA, and then again when I've been back in town visiting family. Very pretty place.
