Re: DuchessAh, but now I am wise to the ways of the wily Duchess and know to guard my food (and Wild Turkey).

Cabin?..is that a cabin behind you? or are you camping in your backyard?

Re: Cabin?..Per the photo caption, we are camped near Siler Bald Shelter on the AT. If you're not familiar with the Appalachian Trail, you can read more at whiteblaze.net.
Cheers!

101 I Hope!Must be something about hiking in NC that makes me - and others it seems - want to bring along the 101! Nice choice...

Re: 101 I Hope!Good dude,
I so hate to disappoint, but I was in fact enjoying Wild Turkey American Honey, instead. This is my new "easy drinking" liquor of choice!
I'll grant, however, the WT 101 would have been the more backpacker weight-conscious decision.

Lacy J. Dalton ... by golly !"I had one lover in all my life,
He left me high and dry.
But after I cried all my tears,
I learned how to get by.
There's been old friends to ease my pain; 'Jack Daniels' to name a few ..
But I'll be damned if I go home, with a
'Wild Turkey' like you ..."

Whiskey...from Kentucky?!?!? I guess it will do in a pinch! But pass the Glenlivet when back to civilization.
At least you brought enough to last a couple hours though!

Re: Whiskey...Exactly...
I've got the Glenlivet 15 year single malt at home in the cabinet, but I'm not going to insult a fine spirit like that pouring it unceremoniously into a backpacking flask.
That's what Wild Turkey is for!!!
