A hard hike
A very long and hard hike, scrambling was mainly 3rd and 4th class but I got into some exposed 5th class by accident, very sketchy. Then it rained on me after triangle peak but luckily the flies went away once it started raining! Didn't see any rattlesnakes but I did see 7 on my way up North Olympus a couple days ago. I ended up getting a little lost after following a game trail a bit too far. It was heartbreaking having to go back up. In total I racked up 9000ft of elevation gain and 7000ft of elevation loss. 13 hours total.

Wildcat Ridge
What a fun route. Glad I finally made it up there. Great views and plenty of solitude.

Wildcat Ridge
6/9/2013 With the WMC, lead by Walt Haas, we made our way along the ridge from Mt. Olympus to Mt. Raymond. This was a grueling yet very amazing traverse. We had a couple of rattle snake encounters, +90 degree heat, close to a 15 hour day, I am still sore a day later, and yet the pros outweigh the cons. Great Hike.

The route
Finally ticked this off, not a moment too soon, since this is my last summer living in Utah. It was so fun, one of my new favorite Wasatch routes of all time.
Was just going to do the basic Wildcat, but I was feeling good and making good time and had some extra water and so I ended up going all the way to Reynolds passing a few more minor peaks in between. Was still doing alright but was now low on water and so I called it a day, plus I wanted to get down and blow stuff up. Total time from Mt. Olympus TH to Mill D TH 12 hr 5 minutes.
Twice I've done a longer version, I called wilder Cat, basicly I add the North peak of Oly via the North face.

Wild Kitty
Started from the neighborhoods and climbed the North Face of Mt. Olympus to North Summit first and then onto South Summit. Then onto Mt. Raymond and descended via Bowman Fork. 10.5 hrs (solo) from neighborhood to Bowman trailhead. There was a little snow and saw a few mountain goats and only one other hiker a few miles up Bowman.

Took the girlfriend for a nice dayhike. I didn't realize how relentless the ridge was. One awesome day.

Wildcat Ridge
Gobbler's Knob to Mt. Olympus. Also hiked this June 10, 2003. Always makes for an epic day. Never been lucky(or unlucky?) enough to see a rattlesnake on this traverse! Maybe next time?
-5/24/07 3rd time. Hiked with Greg(gjagiels). Mt. Oly-->Gobbler's Knob. Great workout, good company, fun day!
This ridge traverse is always challenging. It is near timberline so there is bushwhacking, off trail hiking, and scrambling. It goes over many unnamed summits on its way from Mount Olympus to Mount Raymond. I have only done this traverse in the west to east direction but may try it in the other direction someday.
