Good page--I love mountains that rise from sea level; there seems to be an added sense of mass to them for some reason.

Thanks for the vote. One of the neatest things about the Columbia Gorge peaks is that all of them (except Silver Star) can be climbed from river level trailheads that are all somewhere between 50 and 120 feet above sea level. When the big mountains have bad snow or weather, you can take a short drive up the Gorge and grab as many vertical feet as you have the energy for and get as many trail hiking or running miles as you want. (I must sound like the chamber of commerce!)

It was great to have some nice views of it from Mt. Defiance. I had noticed it last year when I did Dog Mtn. so I suppose I need to make a stop and do this one next trip up the gorge. That last view of it last night as the sun was setting was sweet. I hope your pic of it came out nice.

We have a Wind Mountain as well...saw it in the summit log, just checking it out...well done Don.
