Windy day on Gilbert

Gunsight Peak (13263') is in the middle in front of and left of Kings Peak (13528'). Note how much snow is blowing around at the point from which this picture was taken (i.e. Gilbert Peak (13442')) and there is also some snow blowing off of the right side of W Gunsight (13103') (to the right of Gunsight), but there doesn't seem to be any snow blowing around on the other peaks. In particular, no snow at all seems to be blowing off of Kings Peak, Utah's highpoint. March-10-2011

Just my opinion ..

Because the bulk of the Uintas is trending
from west to east, some highly localized
"micro bursts" will be present on some of
the higher peaks, but not all.

Hey, at least you didn't have to visit a
fast food joint to get your Blizzard.

My opinion is that BR is better than DQ.

With regard to wind here's my theory, it was supposed to be coming from the south that day and both Gilbert and West Gunsight have a broad side facing south and the others don't. After looking at that picture I had hopes that maybe Gunsight Peak wouldn't be as windy as Gilbert but I should have been tipped off by all the bare spots on the north side, that that is not the case.
