Winter Trip 1964

Yours truly packed and ready for a winter trip into the Missions in 1964. Army surplus pack frame (homemade shoulder strap pads), canvas Boy Scout pack,lace leather ski boots, Army surplus strap on canvas ski skins, wooden skis.
All of my best equipment at the time.

They were old cable bindings - similar to the ones on the Red Fischer or Blue Cortina skis shown here:

Even though they were not designed as Randonee bindings, you could unhook the cable from the side clips and obtain some heal lift for walking. Not ideal, but it worked.
