Overview
According to the calendar, spring wasn't all that far away anymore. Temperatures were above average too, which had put an end to our ice climbing plans in the southwestern corner of the Swiss Alps. However, it takes more than a few warmer days to melt the big blanket of snow high up in the mountains, and since the forecast was excellent, it wasn't hard to find an alternative. And so I found myself on a three day snowshoe trip to Cabane des Aiguilles Rouges, bagging a couple of easy nearby peaks in the process.
The forecast proved to be right. Lots of sunshine and clear skies everyday guaranteed magnificent panoramic views of the Pennine Alps.
