Cool little hike with my almost 7 year old.   Sucess!

Set off about a quarter to nine. Saw two big black rat snakes and got some cool pictures. My son got his junior ranger badge afterwards at the visitor center. Catoctin is a cool little park.

Good Times  Sucess!

Grew up climbing these boulders with my best friend. We could spend all day on these rocks and Chimney rock. Need to take a trip back the next time I'm in the area.

Not So Big and Bad  Sucess!

After visiting the area several times over the years, I finally noticed that the highest rock column - separated from the rest - actually looks like a wolf. It is a fun, short climb. It looks harder than it really is, which I suspect keeps most people away. So, the general area is called Wolf Rock, and the highest point in that area is a column of rock that resembles a wolf.

Cool Rock  Sucess!

Neat rock wall jutting out of nowhere. Will have to return with a climbing permit.

Fun!  Sucess!

Had a lot of fun scrambling around on these rocks with some friends on October 3, 2008. Did a second hike here on November 22, 2008 with some other friends. Didn't spend much time the second time around. A third time on January 23, 2010 and again not much time spent here since it was getting dark.

Good rocks to play on!!  Sucess!

Nice little hike to a good scramble field. At the time I was slightly upset that there was no true view. Now I wish I played on the rocks more.

Awesome rocks  Sucess!

No views from the top but the rocks alone are well worth the hike
