1st of 2  Sucess!

This was the 1st mountain of our 30 hour trip thru Mississippi and Alabama. The mountain is non-descript. My two boys (12 and 7) did enjoy running around on top of the mountain. Not much to do here so we didn't linger. Highpoint #12 for me. Highpoint #7 for Q. Highpoint #7 for Carson.

Sixteenth HP  Sucess!

Last on a trip of 16 HP's. We did the drive, snapped some pictures, and headed back to Texas. I did enjoy the history on the plaque at the top.

Southern Road Trip!  Sucess!

HP #30 for me. HP #14 for Lillian. Visited after being at Driskill Mountain the day before. Long drive between the two - took almost seven hours! Getting value out of the rental car. This is a nicely maintained drive up that even has a small view from the summit to the north.

HP #25  Sucess!

This was part of a weekend doing Florida, Mississippi, and Alabama... not the most exciting but better than sitting around the house!

Southern Trifecta  Sucess!

The first of a trifecta weekend with my wife. We visited both Woodall Mountain and Britton Hill on Oct 15th and Cheaha Mountain on Oct 16th. This is my 47th state highpoint!

Sherpa left at home!!  Sucess!

This is #5 in my quest to hike all 50 states, it was part of multi state trip. The choice of states was totally random and I saw some horrible devastation created by the tornado's that hit a week earlier, I can't begin to describe that part. The summit was exciting no matter how small the elevation. The sign on top was very nice!!

Meeting of the Badgers  Sucess!

We got up early since we had to drive to Atlanta to fly home from our 5 state Highpointing trip. Drove to the summit at about 7 AM and found a pick-up truck with Wisconsin license plates and a couple taking pictures of the new summit boulder/marker. Met fellow Highpointer Kenny Pokora and his wife and had a nice visit. Kenny has a long climbing resume including 6 of the 7 summits and has done the 50 State highpoints almost 3X. It's a small world. State HP #46 for me and #29 for my wife.

Summit Road  Sucess!

I took the opportunity of attending my first State Highpointers Konvention because I hadn't been to Woodall Mountain. It was a very pleasant experience including the summit hike to the top. A large rock was unveiled with a commemorative plaque on the summit with the owners and news media present. I know people have dissed the mountain on more than one occasion but it certainly is a better experience now with the cleanup and the summit rock.
