Another easy winter hike in snowshoe. No difficulties. You can ski down from the summit, which I really recommand. Roundtrip from Adk Lodge is about 3h in winter.
Excellent weather for December. Very windy but surprisingly mild.
A fun little diversion from the Alconquin Hike. Some rain in the area but it was fun exploring the summint and my son (11 y/o) loved the Airplane wreakage plague and debris.
Similar view as Algonquin, but from a lower vantage.
Arrgh! About 20 feet shy of the summit, beacuse the winds aloft were gusting to AT LEAST 50mph. we could barely stand up, and actually crawled up to a protective ledge and huddled next to a boulder to get some wind relief, that with the actuall summit just above us. Chancing the summit would've not been wise due to the very high wind gusts. A party just ahead of ours encountered the same conditions. Otherwise, a beautiful day, great sights and a challenging climb. See my pics!
Still had 3 feet of snow on the trail. Did with snowshoes. Warm 45 degrees, clear skies, great views.
