Quick and obvious  Sucess!

We set off from the high bivy pond at 4am. We summited and returned to the pond by noon. Were back in Huaraz by late afternoon. This is a very enjoyable, very straight-forward climb. In the upper sections it is useful to have 3 or 4 snow stakes. Especially for descending. My video will give you a very good idea what the climb looks like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cW8rk6GYyvI

Beautiful Peak

My first major peak outside the US and my first time above 14,000 feet. It was very sketchy weather conditions and the bergshrund was much harder to cross than we expected. Definite evidence of global climate change here... After climbing all the way up to the summit in near whiteout conditions, the clouds parted for about 20 minutes on top. Then socked in again for the decent. Wierd...

Excellent Climb  Sucess!

Excellent off-season climb. Snowed 6" the night before. Started at 4:00 am due to the weather. Took a long time due to the deep snow. Climbed the bergshrund direct. Would have been terribly slow to traverse. Made it to the summit just before 12:00 and back to camp around 4:00. Managed to fall through one snow bridge.

Awesome peak  Sucess!

A spooky day with difficult snow conditions with strong wind and clouds. The bergshrund was quite difficult to cross and then there was some fun steep snow climbing to the summit. Getting onto the glacier also provided a bit of a nice ice step. More difficult than the guidebook lets you believe, but a great outing! The approach can be quite hard to find as well...

Great mountain

Climbed in July 2006 with skyline adventures. Great mountain with fantastic views of the area. Had to turn back about 50% of the way up due to a member of my team getting sick and dry heaving. The 4 days we were there I only saw 2 other people. Fantastic area.

Fantastic Climb  Sucess!

This was my first climb that I would call technical. It was probably at about the limit of my ability (being 61 years old and not very well coordinated) so it might just be my last technical climb as well. It was a great challenge and a fantastic (though exhausting) climb. Skyline Adventure School did a great job of setting it up and providing guides, equipment, etc.
