Yellow Fawn-lily (Erythronium grandiflorum)

Yellow fawn-lily is also commonly called dogtooth-violet, but its not a violet at all. Its one of the most common spring wildflowers growing in numerous habitats including shrublands, open pine forests, western redcedar and up into the subalpine forests and parklands. The range includes southern B.C. south through the Olympics, Cascades and Rockies to Oregon, Montana, and Colorado. This photo taken in the Clearwater Mountains near Elk River, Idaho.
