SO MANY TICKS

We found at least 6 ticks on us as we neared the start of the technical climb, so we decided it wasn't worth it and turned back Friends who were cragging that weekend in Leavenworth also ran into a bunch of ticks. Apparently it's a really bad year for ticks.

Sandy Approach  Sucess!

The approach was damp and sandy with loose rock. The main gully should be watched very carefully with larger groups as rockfall is a serious issue. The 2 pitch climb has a very short second pitch that we set up a top rope for (group of 8). We rappelled down the approach gully to save time. Early Season  Sucess!

First climb of the year for some, ever for others, still a significant amount of snow in the gully leading up to the first pitch. The weather held off and we made it up at 3 p.m. with some difficulty due to melting and water on the second pitch. Our leader, however, perservered and triumphed. Five rappells down to the lower gully and we were walking out, at the car by 9 p.m. Long day, but what overcome challenge wouldn't be worth it?
