Yoran - South Route

Yoran - South Route

The route up the south gully on Mount Yoran. Stick to the trees on climber's right until you get to the ridge. Then follow the ridge up and left until the gendarme blocks the way forcing you left into the gully. Then scramble 3rd class straight up the gully and over the ridge. Behind the ridge is easier scrambling up to the summit. Fun, short scramble (~1 hr round trip from divide lake). PS - the hard-to-see dotted red line means the route goes behind the ridge.

Re: Huh?

Thanks Tazz. The poster above either couldn't see the dotted line or is unfamiliar with its context. I won't be removing the photo because it is perfectly accurate... or as accurate as one can be with photos of this type.

Re: Huh?

The broken line is hard to see, though. I'd suggest just redoing it in a brighter color.

Re: Huh?

bob.... respectfully... if you don't like the picture, go climb the mountain, take a photo yourself, put in a route line in the color/style of your choice and post it.

Re: Huh?

Cluck, I was just trying to offer a helpful suggestion so you didn't get tirades like the one that started this series of comments. I thought his comments were out of line, by the way.

Hmmm...

I tagged Yoran today, when I first looked at the photo I thought Hmmmmm, then I read your description and it made sense.

Re: Hmmm...

Don't know what the confusion is. I guess I'm just used to seeing photos and guidebooks where parts of the route that are unable to be seen from the photo vantage point are marked with a dotted line to deliniate the hidden part of the route.

There are a bunch of climber types who look at photos like this with too much route beta with distain because they believe climbers ought to be able to figure things out without an A,B,C hand holding approach. Actually thought we were being nice to post some info.

If you want to take different photos and mark 'em up in a way that you find more understandable, feel free to post them.

Like I said before, I'm not taking the picture down because I think it is valid.

Re: Hmmm...

Dude!....I think your pic, along with the description, is right freakin on! My point was...If people would read the caption before judging the pic you wouldn't get idiotic comments like the first one from mdwst-trnsplnt

Don't change a thing...It's an excellent pic with an accurate description.

Re: Hmmm...

We both agree on one thing.... you have an offensive personality. Glad you have used good judgement and decided to keep it to your self.
