Some people might see this buck as
a statue, but I know for a fact
there's deer in that area. Was it
getting a drink of water???
No, I think he was looking for food. He was eating some of the beach plants until he decided to go back to his bedding area a few yards into the woods.
...in the waves behind him?
Yeah, I was hoping nobody would notice that... I didn't have a cropping program when I posted this.
Actually, he was a boogie boarder. The waves at the Olympic Peninsula were only about 2 feet high, so mostly he was just paddling around.
A deer by the water that is quite wild. quite wild indeed sir to see such a spectacle in such a place of such splendid magnificence. Thank you for sharing such a picture.
Thanks for the comment! He lived right on the edge of the forest, only a little bit away from the beach, and came out to eat.
Columbian Blacktail deer - they only live in the coastal ranges
Thanks for the info! I didn't know this. That's pretty cool! I always appreciate ID- I love to learn about new things!
