Tatra Chamois

Now they're not that afraid of people any more - must feel relatively safe, unlike in Romania, I guess. I've got one right on the trail, poor quality pic taken with a poor camera unfortunately:

Once on the crest of Małołączniak (Czerwone Wierchy) a young buck stood on the trail, his two female chamois behind him, shooed at us and looked like he was about to charge - bluffing probably - we didn't get closer so as not to frighten'em (or perhaps we were just scared:-)

This means that either there must be an isolated population on Slavkovsky still afraid of people, or I'm just too frightening :))

Listen, Peter, how should they know that? Bearing in mind all the schemes for converting the Tatras into one huge ski resort :-( , no wonder they're bound in the opposite direction

From time to time I hear about those projects, but so far I had the impression they are just propaganda-stuff from those businessmen who would like to make them happen, rather than proposals that enjoy wide support from the entitled officials.

Well, on the southern side there are constructions, indeed. I haven't studied how deep they penetrate into the NP area, though. On the other hand there are so many places in SK for skiers, that this new burden to the High Tatras is hardly reasonable, IMHO.

I couldn't agree more. The problem is the locals (or governement? or all the lot) want their share/more of the money, so I don't think they would listen to us.
