Yours truly sitting on the HP...

Yours truly sitting on what used to be thought of as the HP of Placer county. This of course, is the summit rock on Granite Chief Mountain. I would believe that this boulder is an erratic, deposited by a glacier eons ago. A register is to be found just to the base of this boulder. 5-30-04 UPDATE: In September 2008, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THIS IS NO LONGER THE PLACER COUNTY HP. A spot higher was found to the east, on the Tahoe Rim trail. See this LINK for info.
